948-BUZZ Loft Interview

Recently 948-BUZZ got the chance to sit down with two individuals who are opening a new nightclub in Chinatown. Owner  Titan and General Manager Daniel  have put together The Loft, a beautifully designed, second floor venue. Its tucked away in the second floor of a historic Chinatown building looking deceivingly small but upon entering the venue you realize its fricken big. To get up there to enter from the street to a bakery and upon entering you take these wide ballroom style steps to the second floor. You enter to a large room with an sushi bar on the right and  a  stage across, the bar to the left is big, making it easier to get drinks. The windows are double paned reducing the risk of noise complaints from old geezers and making a nice view of the lite up streets of C-town!

948-BUZZ: So boys what's up at the loft?

Titan: Well we wanted to create a club that everyone can feel comfortable at, so its got a little bit of everything and we designed it with a large stage so we can start bringing in some big shows.

Daniel: Ya, we designed it with a lot of neutral colors and new age art deco furniture, classy but you won't have to sell one of your organs to keep up your partying here.

948-BUZZ: Nice. So what's going to set this club apart from all the other clubs in this town?

Titan: Everything, we have designed it so that it just an easy place to come and have fun. Forget driving around China Town looking for parking, we are providing $3. valet and $3. parking in the Chinese Cultural Plaza located close by.  Also, we have the infrastructure and set up to bring in who ever we want and hold a huge crowd.

Daniel: What really makes the Loft special is the staff. We have a super friendly staff, no one will be hassling you at the door or pouring a few drops of alcohol with soda and ice and charging you eight bucks. We think that's really important, so don't be scared to say what's up all the employees.

948-BUZZ: So it looks like there's going to be a  huge bar, any specials we should know about, how about that patron?

Daniel: Mojito's are our specialty, we are going to have over 20 different kinds of mojito's and you can get them by the pitcher or glass. And yes of course we got Patron, which you can order per drink or  bottle through our bottle service.

948-BUZZ: Nice. So what kind of events are you lining up?

Titan: Every Friday is the Enterprise dance party, its eighteen and over, starts at nine, the cover for eighteen and over is going to be five bucks and twenty one and over is free even on first Friday.

Daniel:  brings a nice mix Indies and electro with DJ's such as ESKAE, Davey Shindig, Matt Ratt, DJ Revise, Ross Jackson and DJ Vagina. Also, there going to mix it up every other week  with CTRL+ALT+DEL, PACIFICA, THIS GHOST IS DANCING, POWER,  and LINUS for the rock nights. Also, on first Friday there will be the HAC (Honolulu Art Collective) featuring art work from over 15 Hawaii artists. We are planning events and specials for every night of the week and Sunday were bringing back . (

948-BUZZ- Right sounds like there going to be a noise disturbance like every night over here, hope those windows are sound proofed.

Titan: You got it, double pane glass windows all around.

948-BUZZ: Oh You buggas thought of everything.

So what's your opinions on the nightlife in Honolulu and how is The Loft going to have an effect on it?

Titan: Well everyone seems to go to the same parties, the surfer crowd seems to go to O lounge on Wednesdays or Lulu's on Fridays and the art crowd seems to stick downtown but we have designed The Loft so that anyone can feel comfortable here and party with their friends, it's a nice place but were not making it ridiculously expensive to get in or having high priced drinks and hopefully people will respect that and we will draw a good mixed crowd.

Daniel: We really have more of an ability to bring in big shows and events that have the large crowds like pipeline so we will defiantly contribute to that big show scene, that Honolulu needs more of, since there are only a few clubs right now that have the capacity to do big mainland and international shows.

948-BUZZ: So what's any tips for the peeps on how to meet chicks/ dudes at your parties?

Titan: Just don't puke everywhere. That always ruins the vibe cause it makes everyone else start puking and then we got to clean it up.

Daniel: Just be your self, everyone likes a certain type of person but no one likes the fakers.

948-BUZZ: So you boys taken or what, you know for the girls?

Titan: Ya, I've been with my Girlfriend for a while and that's going real good.

Daniel: Nope, no one been able to tame this yet. haah

948-BUZZ: Okay, what's your favorite TV show?

Titan: TV what's that.

Daniel: I don't have a TV, we have both put so much time into this project, I just come from one job to here to work on everything. So many things go into opening a club from setting up the events to getting the liquor license its been crazy.

948-BUZZ: Sooo What in your fridge?

Titan: Um I think just left overs, ya I eat out a lot.

Daniel: Beers and Sandwich making stuff.

948-BUZZ: What kind of beer?

Daniel: Newcastle

948-BUZZ: So is that what someone should buy you if they want to get in for free?

Daniel: Sure but no,  but it doesn't even matter since on Fridays the  twenty-one and over crowd already get in for free and eighteen and over can't buy beer that doesn't really work out.

948-BUZZ: And where in this crazy town do you boys get your shopping on at?

Titan: INFORMATION, those guys hold it down and got some sick duds.

Daniel: Kahili Savers, last time I got a shirt from there for like two bucks and got so many compliments, like six girls I didn't even know were like nice shirt I'm telling you savers is in. Its that old worn out and beat up look I guess....

948-BUZZ: Thank for the enlightenment ha-ha. So the grand opening is coming up what's your plans for that night, drinks? no drinks?

Titan: No drinks, seriously its going to be crazy and we can't wait.

Daniel: No drinks, strictly business then after 2 am when everyone leaves its on, were going out and getting our buzz on. We have working so hard we can't wait to see it all come together.
